Tong Eng Brothers was founded in the 1940’s, diversifying into property development in the 1950s. In the 1960s the company built hundreds of houses & apartments in Tong Eng Heights (now known as Changi Heights) and Changi Grove to rent to the British Forces.

The earliest projects also included West Sea Garden in Pasir Panjang, Tong Kong Garden in Upper Paya Lebar, and shophouses along Upper Paya Lebar Road. Since then, the group has developed more than a hundred acres of land, covering retail, office, apartments, and landed housing projects.

Today, Tong Eng continues to develop many residential and commercial projects in Singapore. Some recent ones include Greenbank Park, Green Meadows Condominium, Kew Cottages, Prosper Gardens, Serenade Gardens, Trendale Tower, Balcon East, Stratton Park, Belgravia Park and Stratton Green.

EL DEVELOPMENT PULLMAN RESIDENCE SHOWFLAT LAUNCH

If you are looking for a freehold condominium instead of a cluster house development like Belgravia Villas, you might want to consider Pullman Residence. This is quite a high end project that is being developed by EL Development. Normally EL builds mass-market projects, so in this foray into Pullman Residences, it could be stepping slightly out of its comfort zone.

Whatever the case, it can’t be denied that the location for Pullman Residences is very attractive. It is sited directly opposite Newton MRT station, which means that it fronts Dunearn Road. The project site is also very close to Newton Circus, diagonally opposite the Newton Food Centre. From the Pullman Residence location to Orchard Road is probably around 5 minutes drive.

Anyway, if this sort of project appeals to you, do sign up for the Pullman Residence showflat viewing when it launches for sale. The total quantum price is lower than for Belgravia Villas, but much higher on a per square foot basis. As a basis for comparison, the 3 bedroom units here are likely to be around the same price as for a whole terrace in Belgravia Villas. But we are looking at completely different types of locations of course.
